Location Options for Your Pet & Family Photo Session

Indoor Studio

Our Studio is located in Downtown Hayward, which is right off Interstate 580 in the East Bay. There is one flight of stairs and no elevator unfortunately. If you want some outdoor action shots there is a park a few blocks away.

Indoor Studio

For formal portraits we have a dark grey backdrop with studio lighting.

The Beach

Probably the most popular location, besides the Indoor Studio, is a dog-friendly beach. This is great for dogs that love the beach. Dogs do need to be able to handle other dogs and people being around. Safety is the most important thing so dogs that don’t have good recall need to be kept on-leash at the beach. Because beaches can be very popular, to avoid crowds it’s best to get their just after the sun rises so that makes for an early photo session start time.

Crissy Field

Crissy Field beach in San Francisco near the Marina District has a view of the Golden Gate Bridge that can be pretty stunning and wide swaths of beautiful sand. Be prepared to get up early to beat the crowds. This location is best for dogs that can go off-leash without worry that they’ll run off and get lost. Also dogs need to be not fazed by other dogs coming up to them as lots of dogs are off-leash and curious. Click HERE for more about Crissy Field beach.

Albany Bulb

Albany Bulb Beach is a dog-friendly beach in the City of Albany just north of Berkeley so more convenient to folks that live in the East Bay. It’s best if dogs can safely go off-leash and don’t mind other dogs coming up to them. Click HERE for images from photo sessions at Albany Bulb.

Redwood Forest

If your dog’s happy place is on the hiking trail, a redwood forest photo session may be the perfect setting. This grove in Oakland’s Joaquin Miller Park can be popular with bicyclists and joggers so weekdays are less crowded. Because it’s so shady the best time of day to do the sessions are between 10am and 3pm. Click HERE for more examples of images taken in the redwood forest.

These are my favorite locations for dog photo sessions, but if you have a special spot that means a lot to you and your dog, I can scope it out to find the best areas and times of day to take photographs there. Also, if you have cats or a dog that is most comfortable at home, we can always schedule a home session.
