Pet Mayor For the Day
On October 15, 2021, Chico, a 75-pound, pitbull mix, adopted through Mutville, got to be the Mayor of Oakland for a day courtesy of Friends of Oakland Animal Services.

His main duty was to pass the Proclamation of October 15th as Doggie Day in Oakland.
Mayor Libby Schaaf prepared the document for Chico’s review.
Chico found the proclamation ready to be signed into law.

Along with the important business Chico also got a special tour of City Hall including these beautiful marble steps.

Chico also got to run around in the grass under the big oak tree outside of Oakland City Hall.
Mayor Libby Schaaf, who has two cats herself, turns out to be a big dog lover as well.
Chico gave the mayor a big lick to say thank you for an awesome day.
It was a good day to be a mayor.
After all the excitement was over Chico was ready for his close-up.
